Testimonials

The testimonials below reflect our valuable partnerships with some of our Local Councils, Schools and Leisure Centres, all who are satisfied customers.

“We are dedicated to helping young people and want to provide the best leisure provision available. We enlisted SHOKK as they provide the latest equipment and premier youth specific training that meets the Council’s strategy. The new gym will ensure that all members of our community get the chance to exercise, stay healthy and have fun. We will continue to build our relationship with SHOKK as there is definite potential for their concept to help us to deliver our targets for other health related initiatives”.

Dean Protheroe – Ogmore Valley Life Centre, Manager

“We are thrilled with the introduction of SHOKK’s X-ertain equipment. With the programming support linked direct to the National Curriculum, the Dancemats definitely add another dimension to P.E lessons a valuable resource keep young children interested and improve physical activity for all ages and levels of ability. The SHOKK Comes to Town event is a great platform to showcase the SHOKK concept. The day was delivered by their qualified trainers who I found to be very enthusiastic and motivating which is very important when engaging young people.”

Ann Flannery – Eatock Primary School, Head Teacher

“The equipment and training from SHOKK meets our strategy to make sure that all members of our community get the chance to exercise, stay healthy and have fun. The youth gym provides a safe environment and positive pastimes for the young people to get involved in. We have more schools in the area now signing-up to use the facility to enhance their PE sessions aligned with the National Curriculum and work with a local physiotherapist who also refer young patients the work side by side with our instructors.”

Neil Alexander - Service Manager for Wellness, King's Hall Leisure Centre

“Much more than just a gym, SHOKK at Bowlee plays major role in delivering a high level of PE within and beyond the National Curriculum in a completely safe and fun environment.  The facility helps teachers deliver a state of the art PE lesson and used after school, increasing participation in the 5 hour offer. This is the 4th SHOKK gym to be put into Link4Life managed sports facilities and there is evidence that they really are making a difference to young people’s lives. The first-class fitness facilities will also allow us to further extend this work into the local community.”

Chris Coleman – Group Fitness Manager, Link4Life

“The mobile SHOKK concept creates an exciting and stimulating solution for young people to engage in physical activity and helps support a wider programme that we deliver called Five: 60. The initiative is based around eating five fruit and vegetables and taking part in 60 minutes worth of exercise a day. The programme is delivered to year 3 children in 30 schools throughout our district every year.  The idea behind the scheme is to stem the rise in childhood obesity from reception to year 6. Through the National Childhood Measurement Programme we have seen good results, and now Derbyshire County PCT is funding the roll out of the programme throughout the County”.

Wayne Carter - Facilities Planning & Development Manager, Bolsover District Council
